Expansion of Non-Schengen

The International Pier at Oslo Airport is currently undergoing an expansion of the areas designated to the so-called Non-Schengen flights. After the expansion, OSL will be able to accommodate larger aircrafts, so that efforts to attract more long-distance flights can continue.

In addition to larger aprons, the waiting areas and commercial areas in Non-Schengen will have increased capacity. This means more space and improved services for passengers.

The area will be in full operation during the construction period. Temporary walls will be built and other measures will be taken to shield passengers. Construction will be completed in December 2012.
 
Oslo Airport has in recent years focused on attracting more intercontinental flights to the airport. An increase in intercontinental flights will lead to a fuller use of the airport infrastructure, as the increase will mainly be outside peak periods of the day. This will result in a greater availablilty of outbound flights as well as more international visitors. The partnership with Innovation Norway to attract more visitors from Asia and the US is also part of this strategy.
