Start-up and marketing support
OSLO Lufthavn AS offers support to the following:
- Start-up support to establish new routes.
- Bonus for growth.
- Bonus for for marketing activities
By contributing economically we aim to work together with airlines to increase the number of foreign visitors to the region through joint marketing activities. This to better our services towards passengers and the region.
The airline must apply for support prior to the start of the route or the activity. Each application will be dealt with separately.
Start-up support
Start-up support can be given to an airline starting a new route to/from a new destination.
The condition for support is that the operation is all-year and either has
- minimum two weekly frequencies (freight one weekly frequency) to a new destination or
- Minimum two weekly frequencies to different new seasonal destinations that together gives minimum two weekly frequencies all-year.
The support is given as a reduction in the Take-off charge over three years:
| Year 1: | up to 100 % rebate |
| Year 2: | up to 75% rebate |
| Year 3: | up to 50% rebate |
In addition a reduction in passenger charges may be granted:
| Year 1: | up to 40 % rebate |
| Year 2: | up to 30% rebate |
| Year 3: | up to 20% rebate |
For a new intercontinental route (defined as a route to/from a new destination outside Europe and with a minimum flight time of 6 hours each way) there is an additional rebate in the Passenger Charge:
| Year 1: | up to 75% rebate |
| Year 2: | up to 50% rebate |
| Year 3: | up to 25% rebate |
The start-up support also applies to any other airline starting service to the same destination within the three year period.
Due to environmental reasons no discount may be granted to flights at night (between 2400-0559).
Marketing support
Airlines can apply for practical and financial support to marketing activities at OSL when opening a new route, increasing production or introducing a new product:
- Inaugural event for passengers, VIPs, press, the travel trade etc.- Presentation in Oslo Airport Newsletter to Norwegian consumers
- Airline or destination presentation in Oslo Airport Magazine
- Information about new route on www.osl.no
- Listed under New routes on osl.no
- Advertising on terminal screens
- Support for press or fam trips
- Support for press conferences
- Tours for visiting press, tour operators, travel agents etc.
The amount given can not exceed 50% of the total cost of the activity.
Bonus scheme for passenger growth
Avinor and Oslo Airport wish to stimulate to passenger growth, and have therefore launched a bonus scheme for passenger growth effective from January 1, 2011. The aim of the scheme is to reward airlines that contribute to passenger growth and better transport possibilities. Airlines that wish to participate in the bonus scheme must notify this in writing to billing@avinor.no.
The bonus is 25 kroner (NOK) per departing international passenger and 12,50 kroner (NOK) per departing domestic passenger. The bonus is awarded for each additional charge paying departing passenger calculated from one calendar year to the next.
Oslo Region Marketing Cooperation
The Oslo Region Marketing Cooperation is a cooperation between Oslo Airport, major travel and tourism companies, organisations and authorities in the Oslo Region, and Innovation Norway. The aim is to increase the number of foreign visitors to the region through joint marketing activities.
The marketing activities are base don the condition that the participating airlines contribute financially by matching the funding from the Oslo Region. In addition, Innovation Norway pasrticipates with funds. The perferred funding model is that the Oslo Region finances 25 %, the airline 25 % and Innovation Norway 50 %. Hence, the result is that the airline's marketing budget is quadrupled. The Oslo Region Marketing Cooperation is administrated by VisitOSLO.
Marketing strategy and target groups
- Focus on short breaks campaigns and four distinctive seasons- Target group: Markets with new and/or existing direct routes. Short haul markets such as Germany, France and Great Britain.
