Widerøe opens direct route to Brønnøysund

From May 10 Widerøe will operate four weekly departures from Oslo Airport to Brønnøysund Airport. The airline will increase to five weekly round trips in June.

Norwegian opens new route to Helsinki

From April 29 Norwegian opens a new route to Helsinki in Finland. The route will be operated 11 times per week, twice daily Monday to Friday and one departure on Sunday. The airline will use the aircraft 737-800 on the route, and the ticket fares starts from 299 NOK.

Passenger growth continues into 2010

In January 1,271,131 passengers travelled through Oslo Airport. This is 72,441 or 6% more than during the same month last year. On domestic flights there were 36,942 or 6.2% more passengers, and on international flights the increase was 35,499 or 5.9%.

AirBaltic to reopen Oslo – Vilnius

Latvian national airline airBaltic will reopen direct flights between Oslo and Vilnius – the capital of the neighbouring country Lithuania. From May 17, there will be four weekly round trips – on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

Continental increases the number of departures to New York

Due to increased demand, Continental Airlines has decided to increase the number of flights from Oslo to New York. The route will now be served 10 times a week.

18.1 million passengers travelled through Oslo Airport in 2009

Passenger figures for Oslo Airport for the whole of 2009 show a decline in the number of passengers of 6.5% compared to 2008. However, this decline is strongest for the first few months of 2009 and the figures for November and December 2009 show a significant increase in traffic compared to the same period of the previous year.

OSL volunteers to be trial airport for new security measures

Oslo Airport has informed its owner Avinor that the company is willing to test new security technology. This is highly relevant following the attempted terrorist attack in the USA on 25 December.

SAS re-opens routes to Malaga and Bardufoss

From March 2010, SAS will once again provide routes to Malaga and Bardufoss from Oslo Airport. In addition, the airline will increase the number of flights to Las Palmas, Bodø and Alta.
